Robin Step by Step

Here's a little step by step for the robins on this card. You'll need:

Scraps of Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red, and Basic Black card.
Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa ink.
Close to Cocoa marker.
White gel pen.
1 3/8" Circle Punch, Five Petal Flower Punch and 1/8" Circle Punch.

Punch out one 1 3/8" circle of Chocolate Chip, and one of Ruby Red. Put the red circle back in the punch as shown - so that the edge is about half way across the gap. Punch with the card in this position to give the tummy shape.

If you have trouble punching the tummy like this, then lay the Chocolate Chip circle over the red one so that the edge of it is touching the centre of the circle. Easier if you make a dot in the centre of the red circle first. Use the edge of the Chocolate Chip circle to draw a line on the Ruby Red one, and then cut out using scissors or a craft knife.

Punch out a Five Petal flower from Chocolate Chip, and another from Close to Cocoa. Mark the centre with a dot and cut into this dot from between each petal to divide them as shown. If you're only making one robin, then you can save card by only putting the card into the punch a little way - enough to get one petal of Close to Cocoa, and two of Chocolate Chip.

Sponge the edges of the Chocolate Chip pieces with Chocolate Chip ink, and the Ruby Red and Close to Cocoa pieces with Close to Cocoa ink. Use the Close to Cocoa marker to draw in a line on the beak. Punch a 1/8" circle from the Basic Black card. Alternatively draw in the eye with a black marker. Use the picture of the finished robin above to assemble the pieces. Add a white highlight to the eye with the gel pen. Once the robin is stuck to your project, draw in his legs using the Close to Cocoa marker.

Punch Art Cats

I did another class at the Glitter Pot today, with a lovely group of ladies. Thanks to all of you for a really enjoyable day! We were very busy - doing eight cards in all. This is one of them that I promised to get up here tonight, as it was the last one we did, and some went home still to be assembled! I'm off on holiday first thing tomorrow, but when I return in a week's time I will put up the promised step by step for making the cats. We won't have internet access while on holiday, so I won't be able to reply to any messages whilst away.

The designer paper used here is by Doodlebug, and all of the card is Bazzill Criss Cross. The greeting stamp is by Funstamps. All available from the Glitter Pot.

Blue Leafy Vine Thank You Card

Ingredients:

Card/Paper: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Brocade Blue
Stamps: Fresh Cuts
Other: Pearl from the Pretties Kit
Card Size: 15cm x 10.5cm (approx 4" x 6")

Method:

This is a little card I made to send to the newest member of my team, the lovely Emma.

The flower is made using two layers of the scallop circle punch, plus one of the shapes from the Boho Blossoms Punch. The layers were sponged with brocade blue before assembling, and the flower finished off with a large pearl from the Pretties Kit. The background was scored and then also sponged with brocade blue to highlight the score lines. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to create the leafy vine, and to position the greeting. The Night of Navy card has been edged with the scallop edge punch. All finished with some stitching lines drawn in using a matching Brocade Blue marker.

Apricot Blossom Bookmark Card

Ingredients:

Card/Paper: Bazzill Fern, Just Peachy plus white card for the base and image.
Ink: Versafine Olympia Green, Marvy marker 32 Laurel Green
Stamps: Funstamps Best Wishes (Elegant) and Hero Arts Flower & Leaf Branch
Other: 5 mm pearls, Liquid Pearls White Opal, peach polka dot ribbon Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circle and Circle dies, Woodware Corner Squared, Big Lilac Blossom and Super Multi Sun Flower punches
Card Size: 15cm x 15cm (approx 6" x 6")

Method:

This is the last of the cards from my Glitter Pot class last Saturday. It's a book mark card - the right hand side of the back with the ribbon attached is perforated so that the recipient can tear off the bookmark to use. Great to go with a gift of a book. We used the Woodware Fingerguard trimmer with the perforating blade to do this.

Lilac Blooms

Ingredients:

Card/Paper: Bazzill Lilac, Fairy Dust, Saguaro, Ivy, Hillary, plus cream for card base.
Ink: Versafine Spanish Moss, Marvy Marker 92 Celery
Stamps: Penny Black Spring Branch, Funstamps Best Wishes
Other: Nestabilities Labels 3 Die, Classic Circles dies, Woodware Punches Super Multi Christmas Flower, Large Birch Leaf and Large Oak Leaf and Regular Butterfly 2 punches also 5mm pearls and Lemon Yellow Liquid Pearls
Card Size: Approx 12.5cm x 12.5cm ( 5" x 5")

This is one of the cards we made in the my afternoon class at the Glitter Pot on Saturday. I really like the Labels 3 shape - goes so perfectly with the circles. The flowers and leaves were shaped very simply to give them some dimension before arranging on the card base.

I haven't forgotten about the template for the flower pot card - it's on my list of things to do!

Three Little Kittens

Ingredients:

Card/Paper: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa Whisper White
Ink: Black, Chocolate Chip & Pumpkin Pie markers
Other: Google Eyes, Stampin' Pastels

Method:

I made this card for my Nephew's fourth birthday today. He likes cats, and their cat had kittens a few weeks ago - two ginger and one dark brown - all stripy. My five year old spotted that they are those kittens, so hoping he will too!

The card base is Bashful Blue, and I cut a couple of Old Olive strips for the grass - trimming the top edges with deckle edge scissors. The tree trunks were freehand cut from Chocolate Chip, and stuck behind the grass layer. I punched Scalloped circles from Old Olive to make the tree tops, and 1/4" Ruby Red circles for the apples. The bird is made using a 3/4" circle and little strips created using the Round Tab Punch. Legs drawn with black marker.

The cats are made using 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 1/2" circles, and the Five Petal Flower punch. The edges of the pieces were shaded a little using the chalks, and stripes and facial features drawn in with markers. Google Eyes to finish.
